According to wikipedia, blinking is the rapid closing and opening of the eye. It helps spread tears across the eyes and remove irritants from the surface of the cornea and conjunctiva.
Infants only blink at an average rate of 1 or 2 times in a minute while adults generally blink in intervals of 2-10 seconds. However actual rates vary between individuals and not because of gender, averaging around 10 blinks per minute.
The rate of blinking decreases when the eyes are focused on an object for an extended period of time. When this happens, the eyes will tend to dry out and become fatigued.
With the Guinness World Records, how long do you think a person can achieve without blinking?
Bits of information:
1.I’m not sure if there is a record of not blinking the longest in the Guinness World Records. There was no entry of it in the official website.
2. Eye blinking can be used to diagnose medical conditions; excessive blinking indicates the onset of Tourette syndrome, strokes or disorder of the nervous system while a reduced rate of blinking is associated with Parkinson disease.
3. When humans chooses to blink with an eye, it is called winking but some animals; tortoises and hamsters, blink their eyes independently of one another.
Rating of video:
Excellent video for a commercial. It got me watching without a trace of suspicion. The song is good as well. The commercial is a really good selling point for the product as it definately attract attention and remain in the brain for a period of time. Even I feel tempted to try out the chocolate and see if it is as good as advertised. A 9/10. One mark off because the eyes looks a bit too big and scary. In the beginning, I thought the girl had some problem with her eyes.
